Batheaston Scarecrow Trail 2021

Batheaston Scarecrow Trail 2021

Batheaston Scarecrow Trail is set to return this Autumn.  This will be fifth year of the trail, organised for the whole community to take part in, its aims to raise funds for Batheaston Church School.  This year's Scarecrow theme will Books or Characters from a Well-known Book.  Suggestions include The Hobbit, Moby Dick, Romeo and Juliette or The Gruffalo.

Last year's trail was an enormous success with over 40 scarecrows displayed around Batheaston.  The winner of the Heroes and Villains theme was Three little pigs and the Big Bad Wolf. Other scarecrow highlights included David Attenborough with a menagerie of creatures and veteran hero Sir Tom Moore.

Maps of the scarecrow trail will be sold once the scarecrows are all up.  These will be available from Robbie's Plaice, Batheaston Spar and Batheaston Primary school for £4.  Prizes will be awarded to whoever correctly guesses the most scarecrows and for the scarecrow that is voted the best by the community.  An Aqua Planet paddle board has generously been donated by local residents Carla and James as a prize and a Spa day for two at the Bath Spa Hotel.

Scarecrows are to be displayed by Saturday 9th October till Sunday 31st October (including over the half term holidays), and maps will be for sale from Wednesday 13th October till Saturday 30th October. Prize-giving will be on Saturday 8th November at Mikes Meadow (or on-line if necessary).

Please get involved and support the school and the local community by making a scarecrow or walking the trail.  Thank you for your help and we look forward to seeing your Book inspired creations.
